Doubles

2 PLAYERS PER TEAM

  • Your classic Olympic-style beach volleyball format. 2 vs 2, where both players cover the whole court, share all skills, and compete in a best-of-three rally-scoring match (21, 21, 15) with side switches to keep conditions fair.

  • Each team consists of 1 male and 1 female player. Played on a men’s net height.

  • Each team consists of 1 male and 1 female player. Played on a women’s net height, but men cannot block and can only attack from behind the bungee 10ft line.

  • Players sign up individually and play with a randomized partner every round. Players keep track of sets won individually, and the player that wins the most sets at the end of the tournament is crowned King or Queen of the Beach! This is a great format to meet and play with new people.

4’s (Quads)

4 PLAYERS PER TEAM

  • Coed Quads usually consists of at least one female athlete per team and is played on a men’s net height.

6’s

6 PLAYERS PER TEAM

  • Beach volleyball 6’s is played with six players on each side, creating a fuller court where teamwork, communication, and structured positions matter more than individual coverage. It’s a fun, recreational format that feels similar to indoor volleyball but with the added challenge of moving and playing in the sand.

  • Coed 6’s usually consists of three male and three female athletes per team and is played on a men’s net height.

Levels

At 785 Dive, we often have two different options for level of play in every tournament we host: A (Competitive) & B (Recreational).

A Level (Competitive)

A Level (Competitive) is for experienced players who are comfortable running structured offense and defense systems and who value high-level, fast-paced play. These athletes typically have strong ball control, consistent serves, and the ability to effectively attack and block. Many have played high school varsity, club, collegiate, or advanced adult leagues and are motivated by competitive matches rather than purely social play. A-level participants should expect longer rallies and strategic gameplay. This division is ideal for players who want to be pushed, improve their skills, and compete for a meaningful finish.

B Level (Recreational)

B Level (Recreational) is intended for players who understand the basic rules and fundamentals but prioritize fun, fitness, and social connection over intense competition. Participants may have some league or high school experience, but consistency and advanced systems are still developing. Rallies are active and engaging, but the overall atmosphere is more relaxed. B-level players are looking for a positive environment to improve their beach volleyball skills and meet others. This division is perfect for those who want structured games while keeping the experience light, social, and accessible.
